Hyper Crush, ‘Keep Up’ remixes.

9 Apr

“Live and direct from the Honky Tonk of Electro comes three shit-faced extra terrestrials known amongst the elite simply as Donny, Preston and Holly.” They are Hyper Crush. They are wacky, unique, outspoken and are bringing the 80’s back one dancefloor banger at a time.

I just love Hyper Crush and you should too. Just in time for the weekend here are two remixes of their dancefloor banger “Keep Up” below for you to get grooving to.

Enjoy!

Blame it on the Pop.

4 Apr

I recently stumbled on this gem of a mashup, United State of Pop 2009 (Blame It on the Pop) for all the Pop fans out there.

DJ Earthworm created a year-end mashup consisting of the top 25 most popular hit songs of 2009, according to Billboard Magazine. The video took him about a month to make and it’s worth a watch!

You can download Blame It on the Pop here.

The Dirty Disco release ‘Vulture’.

1 Apr

“Ragamuffins who have excellent hair and even better eye makeup for a bunch of dance punk dudes..tremendous elements of glamour and a vicious take on the 70s that their fore bearers like Bolan or Bowie would’ve employed had they had the full reign of a studio” – The Culture Of Me

They are The Dirty Disco. The group is made up of Adam K (vocals), Kyle Mackenzie (keyboard), Olly Dexter (bass) Andrew Ignatius (guitar) and Kyle Langley (drums). Formed in 2007 with a shared love of varying genres of music, partying and a shared hatred of the stale indie culture of the time, they began writing songs together with an “aim to be different, outrageous but without being too extreme.” They “quickly found we had an ability to write catchy songs without being too cheesy yet retaining a rock and electronic edge”.

They have been working on their debut LP together with mixer Dylan Dresdow who mostly recently engineered Black Eyed Peas’ Grammy-nominated “The E.N.D.”

They have their new single Vulture available as free download, which the group remixed themselves giving it their own special twist.

Diana Vickers.

28 Mar

Meet Diana Vickers. She rose to fame as a semi-finalist in the British television series The X Factor in 2008. Her music is a mix of pop, rock and electro.

She has worked with Ellie Goulding, Cass Lowe, Savan Kotecha, Starsmith and more on her debut album, Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree and she’s only 18. Seriously.

Her single ‘Once’ has me hooked; I can’t wait to see what else she has to offer!

BellaJane.

28 Mar

BellaJane are a four piece band from Dublin consisting of SarahJane (Vocals/Piano), Shane Holly (Guitar), Graham Heaney (Bass) and Dennis Cassidy (Drums).

Lilting female vocals combined with challenging arrangements and rhythmic shifts have seen BellaJane compared to Tori Amos, Fiona Apple and Joan As Policewoman. Their sound is described as quirky pop that “lulls the listener, sucks them in.. then switches the dynamic just as you start to get comfortable” (Connected Magazine) as well as having the ability to “effortlessly veering from sultry, Parisian cabaret inspired vignettes to introspective, lush takes on loss and uncertainty, all the while keeping ears focused and toes tapping.” (Death Via Satellite Press release) They were also featured in The Ticket as Jim Carroll’s ones to watch, with him saying: “BellaJane push all the right buttons with their well-appointed indie-rock with folk frills.”

Having honed their live skills over the last eighteen months with supports to bands like Holy Roman Army, The Dead Flags and House of Cosy Cushions – BellaJane will headline March 27th at Laverys in Belfast in preparation for the release of their debut “No Strings Attached” EP; April 15th in Whelans with support from Little Xs For Eyes.
