Have you ever wondered about the inner workings of the minds of your favourite artists? Well, probably less so now thanks to our beloved Twitter generation, although 140 characters doesn’t always cut it. We want to know more! Callie Morris, web editor for ticketing site Aloud.com is here to give us her top 5 blogs by musicians. So in no particular order…
Hayley Williams.
Titled ‘Let’s Be Freaks’ Hayley usually posts images of all the things she loves – stunning makeup, funky fashion styling or arty objects. She also communicates a lot with her fans, reblogging their tribute videos and photos and adding her own comments onto them. She even adds her personal childhood pics, as well as ones of her mum and best friends, adding massive value to the content. ‘Lets Be Freaks’ really gives you an insight into how she feels with regular posts that are unquestionably coming from the mouth (fingers?) of Hayley Williams herself! Paramore fans who haven’t yet paid a visit – get going!
You can get Paramore tickets over at Aloud.com
Belle and Sebastian.
This blog by Belle and Sebastian (mostly contributed to by band member Stuart) is much more text heavy than Hayley’s. With some funny anecdotes and posts to ‘set the record straight’ he also adds insight into his favourite music, what he’s up to and regularly answers questions from fans. The contributions aren’t that regular, but when they do emerge Belle and Sebastian fans will be glad they stopped by!
Head over to Aloud.com to find out tour info and to get your Belle and Sebastian tickets!
Young Guns.
As a massive Young Guns fan, this blog is probably the most exciting one to me… Mainly written by lead singer Gus, the content is a mixture of text and pictures, a few videos and the odd poll. They do frequent tour diaries and give you a cheeky glimpse into their lives – however, the last post was written at the end of January so it looks pretty unlikely that they keep up with the blog religiously… Here’s hoping for more content!
Young Guns tickets are available at Aloud.com, with plenty more band info and their 2011 tour dates
Good Charlotte.
This video-heavy blog is updated by various members of Good Charlotte, and seems to be edited fairly frequently. The posts vary from a contribution video by Nicole Richie (wife of lead singer Joel Madden) documenting Good Charlotte’s life on tour, to Benji Madden demonstrating how to make a particular drink. All the video coverage of their lives gives an excellent peek into their personalities and fans will not be disappointed. With an extensive back catalogue of blog posts fans of Good Charlotte will be kept occupied for a very long time!
Tickets are available for Good Charlotte gigs now if you head over to Aloud.com!
Noah and the Whale.
Seemingly quite a new blog, the Noah and the Whale members (possibly the main bulk of the content coming from Charlie) update sneek peeks of new music videos and songs and movies they love and take inspiration from. A good blog for those in search of new music to get into and for insider information about any issues/cancellations of their shows. In many of the posts we receive apologies for them ‘not writing for a while’ so all the Noah and the Whale fans can take some comfort in the idea that they’re probably at least trying to keep up with this blogging malarky!
So if you fancy heading to a Noah and the Whale gig this year, head over to Aloud.com for tickets for a Noah and the Whale tour this month or a gig in August.
